Elmyr de Hory
For the lovers of fake paintings, the name Elmyr de Hory should not be unfamiliar. The protagonist of Orson Wells’ F for Fake is regarded as one of the lead experts in art forgery. I have always been interested in his output, his life, and especially the lies told that embellish his reputation.
Below, you will find an article published in Enterprise-Record, on Wednesday, March 23rd of 1977, that mentions not only his name but also the artful way in which, at the time, some of these frauds entered the real art market and gained the status of real works.
